Will a compact gaming keyboard actually improve your desk?
A smaller keyboard is useful only if the keys you lose are less valuable than the space you gain. Check your work as well as your games.

What the listing says
Currys lists the SteelSeries Apex 3 TKL at £49.99. The page describes a tenkeyless layout without a numerical keypad, programmable keys, eight-zone RGB lighting and cable routing to the left, right or middle. It calls the switches Whisper Quiet. We have not tested their noise or feel, so that name should not be read as an independent sound measurement.
Count the keys you use
For a week, notice when your hand goes to the number pad. If you regularly enter figures or use software shortcuts on it, removing it may move the inconvenience elsewhere. If it sits unused while your mouse keeps running out of room, a compact layout deserves a closer look. Measure your available surface and the keyboard's actual footprint rather than assuming every TKL board is the same size.
Use the space deliberately
Moving a keyboard can change where the mouse, monitor and cables sit. Sketch your desk layout before ordering. Route the cable without straining it, and leave the controls and ports you use accessible. The Apex listing offers multiple cable exits, but that does not eliminate the need to check the length and connection against your setup.
Do not buy on a misunderstood label
TKL describes the layout, not a guarantee of mechanical switches, low latency or better play. Check the full switch and connection specification if either matters to you. Likewise, the retailer's water-resistance wording is not a reason to treat any keyboard as waterproof. Look up the stated rating and care guidance rather than making spills part of the plan.
Our buying view
Investigate the Apex 3 TKL if you want this listed layout and features at this price. Keep your existing keyboard if you use its number pad or if space is not a problem. We are not promising a competitive advantage, faster typing or a durability result from a product page. A keyboard earns its place by fitting your habits and desk, not by lighting up.
